Background of Directorate of Women Affairs
Involvement of women in the main stream of national development and ensuring the overall empowerment of women is an essential condition for balanced development. From this realization, the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the constitution of Bangladesh on February 18, 1972 for ensuring the equal rights of men and women and rehabilitating the victimized and damaged women in the society during the war of independence. Formed the Women's Rehabilitation Board. Later it gradually became the Directorate of Women's Affairs.
